Components of worship (Ibaadah)
We worship Allah ﷻto please him and get rewards from him
We try our maximum to beautify it with sincerity and love, but do you know what are the other important parts of Ibaadah missing in our rituals? Let’s evaluate
- Ilm العلم (which eradicates jahl / ignorance)
If we repeat tasbeeh without knowledge and grasp of it, it does not bring any benefit. One must have knowledge of what he is reading, what he is understanding and how he will implement it in his life
- Certainty اليقين (which eradicates doubt)
Doubt weakens the faith, when we have sufficient knowledge of deen , Yaqeen will lighten our heart , and strengthen Eemaan. You need to be very certain in all 5 types of worship:
- Worship of tongue
- Worship of limbs
- Worship of heart
- Worship through wealth (spending in the way of Allah)
- Worship through belief (if you are firm on tawheed , you are in the state of ibaada)
Yaqeen will make all kinds of ibaada more focused and more rewarding in sha Allah
- Sincerity الاخلاص (Which eradicates nifaaq or shirk)
When we do Ibaadah, we must do so solely for the sake of Allah. We must not do it for any other reason or benefit. And we must not do it for anyone else’s sake. In this manner, the meaning of sincerity is opposite to riya (show off).
- Love المحبة
The believer loves the sweetness of Ibaadah because it elevates his rank.
He loves to be in Khushoo’ and all the deeds out of love for Allah’s sake.
- Khawf (Fear)
Fear of Allah Azza wa Jall , is obligatory for everyone, and no one can be guaranteed safety from Allah’s punishment except by fearing Him. Allah, says in the Quran:
“So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are (true) believers”
[Aal ‘Imraan 3:175]
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Allah, Azza wa Jall, says: ‘By My might, I will not let My slave suffer from fear in two realms or feel safe in two realms. If he feels safe from Me in this world, I will make him feel fear on the Day of Resurrection, but if he fears Me in this world, I will make him feel safe on the Day of Resurrection.’
- R’ja (Hope)
It is from the qualities of a believer that he keeps a good zann (Positive assumption)with Allah and he never loose hope in His mercy.
Allah Azza wa Jall says in the Quran:
Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” ( Qur’an 39: 53)
The eemaan consist of these 3 well balanced elements
Love, Fear and Hope
We should do each ibaadah out of HIS love
We should fear HIM in each and every situation
We should be hopeful for HIS mercy
May Allah grant us ability to perform HIS Ibaadah with complete ikhlaas , love , fear , hope , certainty and ILM. aameen
