Wedding in Islam

Wedding nowadays:

– 12 ceremonies spread over seven days

– 1 Year to prepare

– numerous fights & countless complaints

– Misunderstandings between relatives

– Bid’a (Innovations)

– Blind following of cultural traditions

– Sinful customs

– Free mixing with Non-Mahrams

– Tabarruj تبرج (Extreme display of beauty with makeup, accessories and jewellery)

– Misuse of wealth to showoff

– lahwa wa la’b لهو و لعب

– Wasting time on celebrations

– Missing Salah and Adhkaar while busy with arrangements

– 3 months to recover from the stress

– ‘Honeymoon’ (to add on to costs)

SubhanAllah!

Which direction are we moving towards and what kind of legacy are we leaving for our children?

Is this a stage where we are not Muslims or عبد الله Slave of Allah?

Where we no more follow the path of our beloved prophet صلی الله عليه وسلم

Is this a part of our life we are exempted from أحكام و اتباع?

Are these the teachings from Quran and Sunnah?

We need to ponder on our actions and our lifestyle…

وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ

And do not be like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves. It is they who are ˹truly˺ rebellious
